THE JOY OF HEALTHY LIVING

4 Tips to Become a Healthy Entrepreneur

Being an entrepreneur entails more than it may initially seem. It can call for long hours of work and even days with little or hardly any sleep at all. More often than not, this job is also mostly sedentary and with all things considered, it can be inferred that the lifestyle of an entrepreneur may really take a huge toll on your health sooner or later. Sedentary behavior also is known to worsen the health of an individual – it increases the risk of depression, cancer, diabetes and heart disease.

With a hectic schedule, it is difficult to schedule time for exercise or properly plan a healthy meal. Moreover, the emotional health of entrepreneurs is counts as much as your physical health and this aspect of one’s health is often times just overlooked.

In other words, entrepreneurs usually take their bodies for granted and treat it terribly in exchange for the possible success that they may attain. This standard of living, however, is not healthy and no matter how much success it may bring about, entrepreneurs should never let go of healthy living.

Do not tie yourself to your Desk

Spending even just an hour outside daily is actually beneficial for the body. Thomas Jefferson utilized this habit. He actually spent most of his time working but he never failed to go and spend at least one hour outside every day. It would not hurt to take a break for even just a few minutes and go outside, get some fresh air, natural vitamin D and exercise.

You literally are what You Eat

Another way of nurturing a healthy life-style is to improve what you eat. Skipping the energy drinks and junk food can be a starting step to improve your diet. Eating food that is bad for the body may have negative effects to your productivity. For example, inflammatory foods such as sugar can cause you to feel inactive and cloud your focus and concentration.

Consequently, you must prepare and consume nutritionally balanced meals. Food should be seen as fuel and if you feed your body with high quality fuel, the likelihood of a better performance will be attained.

Get those Zzzzs

All entrepreneurs have or will have to experience the toil of late nights, early morning errands and last-minute deadlines at some point in their careers. However, these must not hinder entrepreneurs to get the right amount of sleep because lack of sleep can deter thinking and learning and impair attention, alertness, concentration, reasoning and problem solving skills. In short, lack of sleep can really affect productivity. Moreover, lack of sleep can also contribute to serious health problems such as heart failure and diabetes.

Sleeping more is a great benefit to entrepreneurs. That is why it is recommended neither to sleep too short nor sleep too long to maximize productivity levels. Also, a good power nap may also be utilized to recharge your brain and avoid burnout.

Mind of Matter

Being emotionally healthy must be given as much importance as being physically healthy. Even the most intelligent people would not make it in the “real” world if they could not control their emotions toward their work or toward their client.  Focusing on the positives is one of the simplest, yet, very effective ways of maintaining an emotionally healthy state because where you put your focus will determine how you will think.

Looking at the bright side of situations can help keep your self-esteem and morale high and this can improve productivity. Being able to forgive those who have wronged you can also be a way to improve your disposition. Forgiving will allow you to move on from the negative circumstances while learning from the situation can protect entrepreneurs from being wronged again by the same people.

Striking a balance between pursuing good health and good business is a must for all entrepreneurs. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle can teach valuable lessons about good business. Furthermore, successful entrepreneurs work smarter and not harder.

4 Steps to “Get It Done” despite Your Busy Schedule

There is only one corner of the universe you can be certain of improving and that is your own self. ~ Aldous Huxley

One of the most common complaints in today’s world is that we are just too busy to find time for the things that really matter. We are too consumed by our work and then by our responsibilities for our family and society that we get little time for personal enrichment of any kind. We do not find time to pursue our passion.

However, if we managed things in a better way, we could be able to find time for the things that we like to do. It is all about proper management.

Set Priorities

The Problem: You need to be good at your job and providing for your family, but you struggle to find “me time”.

The Solution: We are not asking you to become selfish, but when you are spending the better part of your day at work and a significant amount of time each day performing your various other obligations, schedule at least an hour every day for your personal development. Remember that improving self is extremely vital.

Your Time is an Asset

Decide what you want to do with your time each day and invest it wisely. Are you going to enrich yourself in some way? You may be planning to do something creative or just become more productive. When you know what you want and you are willing to go after it, you begin to view your time as an asset.

Make a Commitment

Just as you commit to perform all your other jobs, make a commitment to yourself as well. Commit that you will spend at least 1 hour each day enriching yourself. This time could be when you return home from your office or it can be early morning. But, promise yourself that you will spend an hour on self-improvement and stick to that vigorously.

Ask Others

Ask people you trust what changes they want to see in you. Ask them what they think you are good at. Your trusted friends and confidants will tell you the truth about what they want you to do. They will help shape your understanding on how you need to improve on your noted talents.

There is only one you in the world. Take the time to shape and mold yourself to be your very best.

4 Steps to Develop Your Own Style

There are people who spend their whole lives conforming to the ideals of other people, while there are some people who want to develop their own style. If you are the latter type, then it does not mean that you have a large ego or that you are vain about yourself. If you have decided to develop your own style, then it is the sign of a confident personality. You are striving to be unique; there is no harm in that.

The first thing you have to do when you aspire to develop your own style is to have a full realization of your limitations and capabilities. You cannot be unique unless and until you know what you can and cannot do. Think about what you are good at, and think about the things you are not good at.

Work on Your Strengths

Always try to work to your strengths. If there is something you can do well, try and see how you can improve at it. This is what will characterize your personality. People will remember you for your talent. Aren’t all famous personalities of the world remarkable because of at least one talent? Find out what your special forte is, and work on it.

This does not mean you should ignore your weaknesses completely. Try to improve on that too. A person with an impressive personality is one who can manage various tasks, but excel at least one.

Listen to Your ‘Inner Voice’

It is also important that you listen to your ‘inner voice’. When you are planning on something, ask yourself—What does my inner voice say? And act accordingly. If you have firm conviction in a particular thing, you should probably do just that. There will be several detractors on the way, but you should only heed the advice of people who have noble intentions for you. Don’t be obstinate, but know what’s good for you and act accordingly. Be confident in yourself and your ideas.

Do what You Believe

Don’t blindly copy others. Don’t try to do something just because someone else is doing it. Do what you believe in, even though other people do not recommend it. If you are firmly convinced that it is good for you, then it probably is. Weigh the pros and cons of anything that you take up, and when you take something up, commit yourself to it.

Have Faith in Yourself

Developing your own style is not something that you can do overnight. Your whole life is a process of developing a personality or a style. Everything that you do will affect it. Integrity and credibility are the basic survival tools in developing your own style. So, you need to be careful about everything that you do and, above all, have faith in yourself.

How To Think As Big As You Really Are by: Hasheem Francis and Deborah Francis

We live in an environment where we have been conditioned to think small, simplify our lives and to overall expect and demand less from life. The world tells us that “whatever will be, will be” and that “fate” is in complete control of our destinies. So forget those big dreams, and forget striving for a better life. Be resigned with what you have.

But I am here to declare, “Don’t let the words of others limit your vision. Do and Be YOU!”

I once read somewhere, as an experiment, someone put two advertisements in the newspaper. Both were for the same job with the exact same job description, but one of them offered to pay a salary that was double the one of the other. Strangely, about ten times more people applied for the lower paying job. Yet, the world tells us that there is too much competition for the top spots in life. This experiment clearly disproves that. It’s NEVER ok to settle for an unsatisfying or unpleasant status quo.

People are taught to think small. And that is why they fail. The size of our success is limited only by the size of our thinking. “If you let fear run through you unchallenged, it can prevent you from thinking productively. Big thinking rewards action: always has and always will.

You can have anything you want, but you have to believe that you can achieve it. There is no one who can hinder or stop the firm resolve of a determined soul. The problem with most people is that they believe that there isn’t enough to go around and so they must not take more than their fair share. But, money and success do not run out.  All things are possible to those who believe.

So many people feel trapped in their lives of tiny dreams, of getting by, of constantly craving more and yet thinking themselves undeserving of more. Is this how you want to live your life? Open your mind, your imagination, expand the size of your thinking and your drive for success and get to work. Will there be challenges? Absolutely.  A detour is not a change in the destination. It’s just an alternate route to get there. Keep going! Will people doubt you? Absolutely. When people doubt you, just say: “Father forgive them for they know not what they do. And when you prepare my table in the presence of my enemies, make sure they get the best seat in the house.” Think big and make those dreams happen!

Developing the Power of Belief in Yourself

Believing in yourself is essential toward achieving personal success. Without self-belief, we tend to make poor decisions based on self-doubt and fear rather than what is best for us. These decisions may lead to self-destructive behaviour such as working at a job you hate because you believe you can not find a better job, staying in a bad relationship because you believe you do not deserve a better one, and so on and so forth. If you do not believe whole-heartedly in yourself, you will not allow yourself to pursue success.

  1. Visualize success, not failure. Whether at work or at home, train yourself to substitute success thinking for failure thinking. When put in a competitive situation, think “I am equal to the best” not “I am inferior to everyone else. Let the “I Will Succeed” mentality overwhelm the negativity in your mind. Visualizing success conditions your mind to create ways to produce success. Conversely, visualising failure does the exact opposite.
  2. Be your own biggest cheerleader. Look at yourself in the mirror daily and remind yourself that you are better than you think you are. Success does not require super powers or super intellect. Nor is it based on pure luck. Successful people are just ordinary people who believe wholeheartedly in themselves and in what they do. Never short-change yourself.
  3. Believe big. Dreaming big is an important part of achieving success for anyone. The size of our success is only limited by the size of our belief. Often people are scared to think big because they think they are incapable of or do not deserve success. But remember this, BIG Dreamers, BIG Thinkers achieve BIG Results. Do not limit yourself.

Develop the power of belief in yourself by following the three simple tips presented above and watch your life grow in abundance and prosperity. Remember, you can only be as much as what you believe yourself to be.

The True Value of A Mentor

A mentor is considerably like it seems, a leader who helps a person develop into the leader that they are destined to be.  A mentor can successfully challenge and empower you to get your life, business, health and finances in order. Some people do not fully understand how much they could overcome with the help of a mentor who traveled the journey and have succeeded. “Do You Want A Coach Or A Mentor? A Coach Knows The Game By Observation. A Mentor Knows The Game By Experience. A Mentor Has The Scars And Wisdom From The Experience Of Playing The Game.”– Hasheem Francis

Being a mentor is considerably more than just listening to problems and permitting one to cry on your shoulder, that is what many people do not comprehend. A mentor has to know what questions to ask and what buttons to push to get a mentee out their slump. Mentors focus on solutions, while coaches focus on motivation.

It can be pretty essential that when you are searching for a mentor that you select a mentor who has the results in their own personal life. You cannot have someone who has never experienced wealth or is not in the wealth building process to tell you how to manage your money.  You want to make sure that that you are being mentored by a leader that has the experience within the field in which they are mentoring.

A mentor’s major goal is always to empower it’s mentee to become more. A mentor is not a personal cheerleader, if you are looking for a cheerleader, get a coach. A mentor’s focus is results and change.  A mentor is not to make you feel comfortable, because an experienced mentor know that success is outside your comfort zone. Understand that your mentor’s mission is to change your life in a good way. A mentor listens, empowers their client’s with tools, and guide their clients in the proper direction so that they get the results that they desire.

Although there are several different reasons why a person would choose to integrate a mentor within their lives, the most important reason is CHANGE FOR THE BETTER.

How To Overcome Objections In Business

A common reason of failure for many sales professionals is because of their failure to overcome objection. Many new sales professionals get discouraged when a potential client says “no”. There is a saying in the sales industry: as sales professional you can hear 1,000 no’s, but all you need is one “Yes”. When dealing with a potential client as a professional you must understand it is much easier for them to say no than yes. The main reason for this objection is that the client has not found the value in giving you their hard earned money for your product. It isn’t enough just to know how great your product is – as a sales professional you must have empathy for your client’s needs. You must take the time and energy to understand your client’s need, and then make certain that the product which you are offering reflects those needs.  As a sales professional your main focus is to create value and win-win situations for you and the client. Objection is a part of the sales process.

The most common objection is “I can’t afford it right now”. Many new sales professionals get discouraged and often give up at this point. Honestly, I do not think I’ve ever made a sale to a client who did not use that objection. If somebody wants something bad enough and understands the value they are receiving they will find a way to afford it.

No one likes to be sold! This is the key point you have to remember. The objections are just excuses because they don’t want to be sold. You could offer a small business owner a brand new printing machine that they need for their business for a monthly payment of a $100 and still face the same objections. Like I said earlier you just have to find ways around these objections.

Be prepared for the objections before you face them. Put yourself in the client’s position and think of every possible objection they can bring to the table. It is good to write them down, and then think of great ways to overcome those objections with a value proposition. Here are some possible examples:

Client: I love the printing machine, but I just can’t afford it right now.

Sales professional: I understand,  it all comes down to affordability right? So if it was 100% affordable, you would definitely invest in it today?

Take note on what happened. First the sales professional overcame the objection by agreeing with the client. Then he got the client to commit to purchasing the product if he could make it 100% affordable. Now this is where the sales professional works their plan that would make the product affordable for the client.

Client: I already have too many business financial obligations.

Sales professional: I understand, but all small business owners have obligations right? Unfortunately as a business owner you are going to always have financial obligations until you (pause)… Close up shop or kick the bucket. If we let financial obligations stop us from getting what we need to help our business grow, we could never enjoy life.

This is a different approach. The sales professional made the client understand that they will have financial obligations as long as they remain in business, so that is no excuse for not investing in something they need to help their business grow. Now they can no longer use that as an excuse not to invest in your product. Your goal will be to get all the objections out of the way, until your client has no more excuses. Remember this bit of wisdom, “No does not mean no…it means not now”.

The Key To Overcoming Failure: Get Back Up & Try Again!

How many dreams and goals have you evaded because you were afraid of failing? How many times have you looked back on your life, looked upon the mistakes that you have made, and beat yourself up over them? So many people allow dread of making mistakes to hold them back!

If you fail at something it touches you in a deep emotional way. While it feels detrimental at the time, it teaches you imperative lessons. You learn what does not work, and that which might truly bring you closer to success. Because it is so disturbing to fail, if you have the courage to get back up and try again you will try harder the next time. Hope is that which makes us live today as if tomorrow were yesterday.

Even if you try and fail, you will never be the same person you were before you started the project. “The father of success is work – the mother of achievement is ambition.”  You have forced yourself to a new level, moved away from your comfort zone, and are much more sensible for having tried the task. If you constantly avoid pursuing goals and ambitions because you are scared of making mistakes you will never realize what you can accomplish. Trying and failing is better than never having tried at all.

Success is not measured by the position that one has achieved, but by the obstacles which you had to overcome. After experiencing failure you might feel hurt, broken, and/or disappointed. However something astonishing happens once the original sting wears thin; you truly become stronger in mind and spirit! With each effort you put forth, you grow stronger in character and better your odds of achieving success. Success consists of getting up just one more time after you have failed.

If you put your efforts into trying something and you fall short you build bravery to try again. It is the fear of the unknown that truly holds people back, however when you have taken the risk and lost, it won’t feel as chilling the next time you try. Courage doesn’t come from winning, however from the quest of goals-whether you win or not.

You don’t have to lie awake at night to succeed – just stay awake during the day and be willing to do what’s necessary.

5 Ways To Develop A “Get It Done” Attitude!

1. Take consistent little action steps:

The steps to bringing discipline to one’s business are similar to growing up in life; both require consistent small steps. One cannot achieve success in being disciplined over night. Many people try using overnight methods and fail miserably and out of frustration return back to their undisciplined life. It takes time to develop discipline and one needs to be determined. You could begin with the smallest thing possible like exercising for 15 minutes everyday or getting up 30 minutes prior to the time you do now. It could be reducing the number of cups of coffee you drink in a day, even if it is reducing the number by one every week. The basic rule is to take smaller steps and try reaching your goal.

2. Do not procrastinate:

It is a good idea to place things on a “get it done” list and then decide on taking action on achieving these items immediately. Try to set a deadline and promise yourself to stick to the plan of action until you achieve your goal. Avoid procrastination; it makes the path to developing a “get it done” attitude take longer. Once you are successful with little goals, it strengthens inner resolve; helps set more goals and helps in achieving them.

3. Every day changes:

It is a good idea to start with a smaller goal to move toward discipline. It can be as small as waking up at 5am to do your personal growth study or waking up 30 minutes earlier than usual to perform some exercise. Every day must be taken into account; if a day is skipped the discipline level falls and it will weaken your determination to achieve the goals you have set.

4. Visualize your final achievement:

Take time and visualize how it would feel to achieve yours goals and remember it will only be possible if you take smaller daily action steps. If you know what it would take to achieve a particular goal make an outline and take action to immediately set out to achieve. The visualization process helps you to focus and maintain your goal even if you get distracted.

5. Get someone to mentor you:

If you could get someone to record your progress, it would definitely help. It could be a professional or a friend. Having a mentor has many positives; firstly, for example, you would be less likely to procrastinate when you have someone vested to hold you accountable.
